GIANTS own Jake Turnbull gets Minor League start

BILLINGS – There are currently just seven Major League Baseball players on active rosters hailing from Australia. This Billings Mustang has aspirations to be the eighth.

“I started through tee-ball when I was, like, 5 (years old), and then I moved through the ranks,” said Jake Turnbull. “I started young for an Australian kid.”

While baseball is not one of the more popular sports in Australia, Turnbull has seen its growth firsthand.

“It’s getting huge,” Turnbull said. “It’s really getting there. It took a while to get there. When I was young it was pretty small, but as I grew up it kind of got bigger and bigger.”
